LEGISLATIVE ACTIVITY
FY 2015 Appropriations Action
This week the Senate is anticipated to bring up its first FY 2015 appropriations minibus, a package including the Commerce-Justice-Science (S. 2437/Rept. 113-181), Transportation-Housing (S. 2438/Rept. 113-182), and Agriculture (S. 2389/Rept. 113-164) spending bills. Appropriations Chairwoman Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) reports the bills will be open to amendments during floor consideration.
The full committee markup of the Labor-HHS-Education bill which was reported out of the Senate appropriations subcommittee last week was indefinitely delayed, in part, due to anticipated contentious amendments regarding healthcare reform.
Last week, the House abruptly pulled its FY 2015 Agriculture Appropriations bill from the floor and instead of resuming action on the bill this week, will instead begin consideration of the FY 2015 Defense Appropriations bill (H.R. 4870/Rept. 113-473).
