Senate Legislative Activity
The Senate will convene today, Monday, April 7, at 2:00 pm. After any leader remarks, the Senate will be in a period of morning business until 5:00 pm, with senators allowed to speak for up to 10 minutes each. After morning business, the Senate will resume consideration of H.R. 3979, the legislative vehicle for the Emergency Unemployment Benefits Extension Act, post-cloture, with time until 5:30 pm equally divided and controlled. At 5:30 pm there will be a roll call vote on the motion to invoke cloture on H.R. 3979, as amended. At the end of this week, the Senate is scheduled to adjourn for congressional recess, reconvening on Monday, April 28.
House Legislative Activity
Today, April 7, the House will meet at 12:00 pm for morning hour and 2:00 pm for legislative business, with votes being postponed until 6:30 pm. On the House calendar for today is H.R. 1871 – Baseline Reform Act of 2013, which is scheduled to be considered under a closed rule with one hour of debate. The following legislation is also on today’s calendar, to be considered under suspension of the rules:
- H.R. 3470 – Taiwan Relations Act Affirmation and Naval Vessel Transfer Act of 2014, as amended;
- S. 404 – Green Mountain Lookout Heritage Protection Act; and
- H.R. 4323 – Debbie Smith Reauthorization Act of 2014.
On Tuesday, April 8, and Wednesday, April 9, the House will meet at 10:00 am for morning hour and 12:00 pm for legislative business. On Thursday, April 10, the House will meet at 9:00 am for morning hour and 12:00 pm for legislative business, with last votes expected no later than 3:00 pm. The following legislation is on the House calendar for the balance of the week:
- H.R. 1872 – Budget and Accounting Transparency Act of 2014 (Closed Rule, One Hour of Debate); and
- H. Con. Res. 96 – Establishing the budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2015 and setting forth appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2016 through 2024 (Subject to a Rule).

No votes are expected on Friday, April 11, as the House plans to adjourn for congressional recess after Thursday’s session. The House is scheduled to reconvene on Monday, April 28.
