The Senate will convene today, Monday December 16, at 3:00 pm, and after any leader remarks, the Senate will be in a period of morning business until 5:30 pm, with time equally divided and controlled. The filing deadline is 4:00 pm today for first degree amendments to the motions to concur with respect to H. J. Res. 59, the Budget Resolution, and H.R. 3304, the National Defense Authorization Act.
At 5:30 pm, the Senate will proceed to roll call votes on the following:
- Confirmation of Executive Calendar #406, Anne Patterson to be an Assistant Secretary of State (Near Eastern Affairs);
- Motion to invoke cloture on Executive Calendar #450, Jeh Charles Johnson to be Secretary of Homeland Security; and
- Confirmation of the Johnson Nomination.
It is possible that the Senate may proceed to additional procedural votes after this 5:30 pm series of votes. The Senate is expected to adjourn for the holidays at the end of the week until it is scheduled to return on Monday, January 6, 2014. The House has adjourned for the holidays, and is scheduled to remain in recess until it returns on Tuesday, January 7, 2014.
