Gainful Employment
Nominations for individuals to serve on the Department of Education’s negotiated rulemaking committee to prepare proposed rules for gainful employment programs under Title IV are due July 12.
The department may establish additional negotiated rulemaking committees to consider action on issues, including: (1) Cash management of funds provided under Title IV programs; (2) State authorization for programs offered through distance education; (3) State authorization for foreign locations of institutions located in a State; (4) clock to credit hour conversion; (5) changes made by the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013; and (6) the definition of “adverse credit” for borrowers in the Federal Direct PLUS Loan Program.

- Tuesday, June 18: The Senate Budget Committee will hold a hearing on the FY 2014 Department of Education budget.
- Thursday, June 20: The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee will hold a full committee hearing at 2:30 pm titled “Developing a Skilled Workforce for a Competitive Economy: Reauthorizing the Workforce Investment Act.”
