Senate Legislative Activity

The Senate will convene today, Monday, June 23, at 2:00 pm. After any leader remarks, the Senate will be in a period of morning business until 5:30 pm, with senators allowed to speak for up to 10 minutes each.

After morning business, the Senate will proceed to Executive Session for a series of up to four roll call votes:

  • Motion to invoke cloture on Executive Calendar #779 – Paul Byron to be United States District Judge for the Middle District of Florida;
  • Motion to invoke cloture on Executive Calendar #780 – Carlos Eduardo Mendoza to be United States District Judge for the Middle District of Florida;
  • Motion to invoke cloture on Executive Calendar #781 – Beth Bloom to be United States District Judge for the Southern District of Florida; and
  • Motion to invoke cloture on Executive Calendar #836 – Geoffrey Crawford to be United States District Judge for the District of Vermont.

The Senate is expected to adjourn at the end of this week for the Fourth of July recess, and is scheduled to return Monday, July 7.

House Legislative Activity

Today, the House will meet at 12:00 pm for morning hour and 2:00 pm for legislative business, with votes being postponed until 6:30 pm. The following legislation is to be considered under suspension of the rules:

  1. S. 2086 – Reliable Home Heating Act;
  2. H.R. 4092 – Streamlining Energy Efficiency for Schools Act of 2014;
  3. Concur in the Senate Amendment to H.R. 316 – Collinsville Renewable Energy Production Act;
  4. H.R. 4801 – To require the Secretary of Energy to prepare a report on the impact of thermal insulation on both energy and water use for potable hot water;
  5. S. 1044 – World War II Memorial Prayer Act of 2013;
  6. H.R. 4002 – To revoke the charter of incorporation of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma at the request of that tribe; and
  7. H.R. 412 – Nashua River Wild and Scenic River Study Act.

Also on the House calendar for today is H.R. 4413 – Customer Protection and End User Relief Act, Rules Committee Print (Structured Rule, One Hour of Debate).

On Tuesday, June 24, and Wednesday, June 25, the House will meet at 10:00 am for morning hour and 12:00 pm for legislative business. On Thursday, the House will meet at 9:00 am for legislative business, with last votes expected no later than 3:00 pm. The following legislation on the House calendar for the balance of the week is to be considered under suspension of the rules:

  1. S. 1681 – Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2014;
  2. H.R. 1098 – Traumatic Brain Injury Reauthorization Act of 2013, as amended;
  3. H.R. 1281 – Newborn Screening Saves Lives Reauthorization Act of 2013;
  4. H.R. 3548 – Improving Trauma Care Act of 2014;
  5. H.R. 4080 – Trauma Systems and Regionalization of Emergency Care Reauthorization Act, as amended; and
  6. H.R. 4631 – The Autism CARES Act of 2014, as amended.

The following legislation is also on the House calendar for the balance of the week:

Beginning on Friday, June 27, the House is scheduled to be in recess for the Fourth of July holiday, and is scheduled to return on Tuesday, July 8.
