Upcoming Hearings:

  • Tuesday, April 8: The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security will hold a hearing on cybersecurity programs in the FY 2015 appropriations bill for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The hearing will feature three witnesses from DHS’s National Protection and Programs Directorate (NPPD) including Suzanne Spaulding, Undersecretary of Homeland Security; Phyllis Schneck, Deputy Undersecretary of Homeland Security for Cybersecurity; and Larry Zelvin, Director of the National Cybersecurity Communication Integration Center.

NIST Privacy Workshop

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) will host a privacy engineering workshop in Gaithersburg, MD on Wednesday, April 9 and Thursday, April 10 to meet with privacy policy experts and technical system design engineers. The workshop will explore the potential for privacy engineering to contribute to the development of effective and repeatable privacy protections, as well as the privacy applications of analogous models in security engineering and safety risk management. Ari Schwartz, Acting Senior Director for Cybersecurity at the National Security Council, will open the workshop and NIST’s Senior Privacy Policy Advisor Naomi Lefkovitz will also speak at the event.
