This Week’s Hearings:

  • Tuesday, February 11: The House Financial Services Committee will hold a hearing titled, “Monetary Policy and the State of the Economy.” The Honorable Janet Yellen will testify at the hearing for the first time as Federal Reserve Board Chair.
  • Thursday, February 13: The Senate Banking Committee will hold a hearing on the Federal Reserve’s Semiannual Regulatory Report to Congress. Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen will testify at the hearing.

Regulatory Activity

CFTC Has a Busy Week Ahead

The Commody Futures Trading Commission (CFTC or Commission) will hold three meetings this week. Today, there will be a meeting of the CFTC’s Technology Advisory Committee (TAC). The TAC plans to discuss swap data reporting, the Commission’s concept release on automated trading environments, and swap execution facilities (SEFs). On Wednesday, the Commission will hold two meetings: in the morning, the CFTC’s Division of Market Oversight will hold a public roundtable on the trade execution requirements of certain package transactions; and in the afternoon, the CFTC’s Global Markets Advisory Committee (GMAC) will meet to discuss the CFTC staff advisory issued on November 14, 2013, relating to the applicability of the Commission’s cross-border guidance.

FSOC to Meet in Closed Session

On Thursday, February 13, the Financial Stability Oversight Council (FSOC) will meet in a closed session.
