Senate Banking Committee To Address Housing Finance Reform

On Thursday, September 12 the Senate Banking Committee held a hearing titled, “Essential Elements of Housing Finance Reform.” During the hearing, the Chairman Tim Johnson (D-SD) and Ranking Member Mike Crapo (R-ID) stated that the committee plans to hold hearings focused on housing finance reform throughout the fall, and they expect to produce and markup a Committee-led bill by the end of the year.

This Week’s Hearings:

  • Wednesday, September 18: The House Financial Services Subcommittee on Capital Markets and Government Sponsored Enterprises will hold a hearing on the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) proposal for money-market fund (MMF) reform.
  • Wednesday, September 18: The Senate Banking Subcommittee on Housing, Transportation, and Community Development will hold a hearing titled, “Recovering from Superstorm Sandy: Assessing the Progress, Continuing Needs, and Rebuilding Strategy.”
  • Wednesday, September 18: The Senate Banking Subcommittee on Economic Policy will hold a hearing on implementation of the Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Act of 2012.
  • Thursday, September 19: The House Financial Services Committee will hold a hearing on reauthorization of the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act of 2002 (TRIA), which is set to expire on December 31, 2014.

SEC To Hold Small And Emerging Companies Advisory Committee Meeting

On Tuesday, September 17, the SEC will hold a meeting of its Advisory Committee on Small and Emerging Companies. The meeting will include discussion on the effects of the implementation of the JOBS Act and a presentation on possible amendments to SEC Regulation D.
