Broadcast Incentive Auction Hearing. The U.S. House Energy & Commerce Committee is reportedly planning a July 23 hearing to review Federal Communications Commission (FCC) progress on the broadcast incentive auctions mandated by the JOBS Act. The Committee has not publicly announced the hearing and the date is still tentative.
Rural Broadband
After a fractious debate, the House of Representatives passed a Farm Bill last week that includes the same level of funding for rural broadband grants as the Senate bill – $50 million. However, because the House’s bill passed without a nutrition title for the first time in history, the entire bill may be doomed in the conference process.
